Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Party

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of characters who will separate from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

With 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the group knows exactly where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.

The antagonist then settled his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty environment.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could assist the team access locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, The grateful character swore a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • The target is wanted dead by the clan.

This results in them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight cast members to assemble the Explorers and Schemers groups.

Audiences can look forward to finding out which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on next week.
